about jaime

Owner + head photographer here at Wild Rivers Photo. My latest obsessions are The Crown & Ted Lasso - apparently I have a thing for the UK (who knew?!) When I’m not behind the camera or in my office editing, I’m taste testing my husband’s latest kitchen concoction, flexing my interior design skills for our new-build, or convincing my friends to do another soul-crushing CrossFit competition with me (ha!)

Having moved 18 times across 7 states, I’m well versed in getting to know new people (big + little) and learning what lights their fire.

let's be bffs!

First and foremost I am a newlywed and fur-mama two our two adorable doggos: Aspen + Echo. Sitting on the couch with Travis, my husband, and the pups is my favorite place to end every day, especially if there are Friends or Big Bang Theory reruns playing on the television.

A former musical theatre kid, it’s only fitting that I married a choir + theatre teacher, right? I’ve always been the creative arts type, but it wasn’t until I met Travis and saw him living out his dream of teaching and inspiring high schoolers the way that he was that I realized I wanted to be that passionate about my work. We look forward to the day that we have our own little ones running around on stage!

It was a long journey to get to this chapter of my story, so stay with me for a minute. After graduating with my Masters in Marriage, Couple & Family Therapy, I decided to take those skills to corporate America as a Human Resources professional. After working a 9-5 for a decade, in 2019 I decided to give photography a shot (see what I did there?) & WRPhoto was born!

The Business Story

I’m happiest running around and playing games with your little ones, bringing out the personality of your senior, + capturing the joy and reverence of new parents. In fact, I love families + seniors so much that it’s all I photograph. As a photography consumer myself, I know how important it is to find someone who is invested in making sure your photos are an authentic reflection of you and can be preserved for years to come. That’s why I’ve built Wild Rivers to meet YOUR needs - whether you’re looking for quality prints, a custom designed album, or hi-res digitals, your experience is tailored to you.

If you've read the internet poet Atticus, you know him for his "Leave Her Wild" poem. Like many, I was struck by the simple + profound beauty of loving someone for who they are in the depths of their soul.

Personally, growing up as a highly responsible, dependable, Type A oldest child, it took until my mid-twenties to breathe life into myself and start daring to try things that weren’t within the box (skydiving on a first date, anyone?) The concept of loving someone as they are at their core, not just who they pretend or posture to be, is the most captivating of sentiments.

Poetry Meets Hometown

In my photography, it will always be my goal to capture that essence that makes you you - your W I L D.

I’m ready to book!

Rivers has both literal and metaphorical origins. First it is a nod to my journey, which begins in my hometown of Grand Rapids, MI. In my life, I've lived in 7 states and it has been a J O U R N E Y to get to today.

On the metaphorical end, I've always been fascinated with water. I am the daughter of a mother that broke some serious glass ceilings (in my book, anyway) and knowing that when you're looking at a river you are looking at water that carved its own path, that dared to find its way and stood its ground, that is how I try to show up in life and how I want to show up in this business. We don't have to do the "normal" thing, we just have to do the thing that makes us feel like "us", regardless of what anyone else thinks.
